Just Make a Wish

Yeterday was my birthday.

I'm 18!

Never has the term "adult" been so missaplied.

I had a really great day. I hung out with people I love, had a nice dinner, and heard from people I don't get to see everyday.

There were a few people I was hoping to hear from, but I'm not going to get to hung up on that.

Do you know what I whished for? What I want more than anything? I want all the people I love, from all my famlies, together again. Safe. Happy.

I want us all to be together.

Do you hear that guys? I don't care if I heven't seen you in forever, or didn't know you to well.

IF YOU WERE EVER PART OF MY FAMILY, I WANT YOU TO COME BACK.

This espescially goes put to everyon from my Kyrios or youth ministry famlies.

I miss you.

Even if it take forever, I want you to know that you are ALWAYS welcome, and I am ALWAYS there for you.

And a Partridge in a Pear Tree

Tonight I volunteered at the Big Brothers Big Sisters Christmas party in my community, and I have to tell you, I had a great time! I was late for setup but that didn't seem to matter, and I got to help put tinsel up on different things (FYI Tinsel is that shiny stringy stuff that goes on a Christmas tree). It is fun haha. I played some games and helped got to run the dishwasher (my fav job!). We had two kids get sick but that wasn't bad, it was probably all the food and excitement. Also my friend hurt his ankle. Luckily his mom is a doctor, and he does this kind of thing a lot, so I'm sure he will be fine. This was like the most relaxing volunteering I've ever done. I think there were a few people who thought I didn't have it all together, and it probably didn't help that I was wearing elf shoes, a tinsel scarf, and had a bow taped to my forehead (plus a striped hat at one point). This one girl looked at me like "what is wrong with you?" and so I told her "I'm an elf". Looking back, it's probably a good thing that my friend wouldn't let me have a "Buddy the Elf" name tag.  I don't think she bought it but whatever.  I hung out and danced and sang carols with a friend from choir too. There were the cutest little kids there, and everyone was having fun, and they decorated cookies, and it didn't even take much setup or cleanup time. And we got to help out a great organization while having a blast together. I would encourage you to check the party in your area, volunteer for an hour or two. It's totally worth it :D

Appeals to Reason

Today I wrote a letter to a friend, one that lives nearby and who I see at least once a week. There has been a lot of drama between us and my other friends during the last few months and I'm sick of it. So I wrote this to tell him that I was tired of this and I want to know what is going through his head. I'm calling it a final appeal to reason, because I just don"t want to deal with it. He's my brother, and I want to trust him, I mean I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, even as he pushes me over the cliff. I've lost so many people to time, changes and distance, that what it comes down to is that I love him and I don"t want to loose him to. So I'm going to send him a letter somehow, to say what I can"t tell him in person, because it's time he knew at least part of this story.

PC Holidays

It's that time of year again, the time when everyone decides to up the politically correct bar so that everything is either "offensive" or a lawsuit. All I have to say here is: Really?  I mean really? Come on people. No one is offended by saying a Christmas tree is just that, a CHRISTMAS tree. And if you are i suggest you seriously reevaluate your priorities. I'm Catholic so for me, this is Advent, and Christmas goes until February or January, (depending on the calendar or location) it's a technical thing, but I'm not going to get offended if someone decides to say Merry Christmas. Or Happy Hanukkah (actually I think that would be cool because I don"t think thats ever happened). And I would hope no one freaks out if I say Happy New Year because I'm excited about the new liturgical year, or Merry Christmas in January, because that is what it is for me.

I'm really excited for this now (side note)! I get to celebrate holidays for weeks, or months, instead of days, and because we do so much preparation and anticipation its all that much more exciting. As a good friend of mine once said "ain't no party like a Catholic party cuz a Catholic party don't stop!"

College decisions...

Today I went to a "how to choose the right college" seminar. It was pretty fun, I got to see some video of old friends and learn a few ways to make the college search a little easier. (if you want to hear about it let me know) It was normal... until my youth minister (who was leading the session) said "everyone take out your handy-dandy notebooks". Of course my friend yells from the back of the room "and that's so appropriate because Steve went to college!" and then my mom points out "and he is wearing a striped shirt". This would happen :)

I love my friends

Hola Everybuggy!

First day on a new blog! Today was school spirit day for homecoming. I got to watch the football players dance and bought my wristband for the dance. It is silver and super shiny. I was very distracted by it. Who says I'm not ADD??? :D
